About
Keith England has been blessed with many opportunities to record and perform alongside numerous legendary artists over the course of a decades-long career. From Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Allman Brothers Band to legendary Spinal Tap bassist Derek Smalls, the road has indeed gone on forever and continues its meandering journey.
His voice is heard in feature films such as Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge" and 20th Century Fox's "The Rocker" with Rainn Wilson
(that's Keith's voice coming out of Will Arnett's mouth as the singer of the fictional Heavy Metal band Vesuvius) in addition to numerous television shows and commercials.
These treasured experiences now culminate in a long-overdue solo album, "Living Proof." Dark, gritty tales of real life populated with drunks, addicts, con men, criminals and lovable fuck ups but with an underlying spirit of hope and redemption.
All told with a side of humour and grace. The human spirit endures. Keith England is living proof.

ME & VIRGINIA
Whiskey and cigarettes are the first things we’ll get
When we hit the big time on this you can bet
If I had a dollar for every dollar I’ve spent
I’d throw a party and invite my friends
No one who loves me ever sends me a text
Just predatory lenders and collectors of debts
Oh lord, forgive me, we done it again
Me and Virginia, we just spent the rent.
Me and Virginia have a hobby or two
We don’t mind the pills, we sure like the booze
Every occasion is special to me
So break out the Oxis and we’ll all be free
God damn these tickets, a dollar a scratch
Things would be better if they’d buy them back
I feel like a jumper who just missed the net
Me and Virginia, we just spent the rent.
I love Virginia more than anyone I’ve met
We don’t ask for nothing and that’s what we get
I love Virginia more than anyone I’ve met
Oh lord, forgive us, we just spent the rent
A bed and some blankets are the first things we’ll get
Back at the shelter with friends and regrets
If I had a dollar for every mistake
I’d throw a party and party for days
Me and my friends waitin’ for a turn
The melting pot is hot and the bottom gets burned
Oh Lord, forgive us, we need you again
Me and Virginia and all of our friends
Me and Virginia with the clothes on our backs
Hang from the ledge and slip through the cracks
Every occasion is special indeed
We sing karaoke cause singing’s still free
God damn these tickets
I don’t have the scratch
Things will be better when we get our car back
Don't know how it happened, but it happened again
Me and Virginia, we just spent the rent
Me and Virginia, we just spent the rent
Me and Virginia, we just spent the rent

BACK TO THE BOTTLE
I got a bed
Down at the rooming house
And a job at the hamburger joint
I got cigarettes
And my sobriety
I just don’t know
What the hell is the point
My momma died
My woman left me
My son’s a junkie
And he just can’t quit
He’s down in Hollywood
Selling his body
Or at least what’s left of it
I’m going back
To the rock
That I crawled out from under
I’m going back
To the bottle again
I got a gun
Gonna rob somebody
Get an eight ball and a bottle of booze
A little somethin’
For coming down
Whatever’s left
I’ll get a new pair of shoes
It’s all my fault
Can’t blame nobody else
For what I’m about to
Do to myself
I had some help
I worked the program too
But twelve steps backwards
Is easy to do
I’m going back
To the rock
That I crawled out from under
I’m going back
To the bottle again
How did it ever get so crazy
How did it ever get so out of control
I’m not stupid or lazy
I guess there’s something wrong
Deep in my soul
Walked thru the door
Of a liquor store
Told everybody to get on the floor
They hit the ground
Too scared to make a sound
The manager on duty opened up the drawer
Gimme the money
That’s all I’m lookin’ for
Then I’ll be on my way, you can rest assured
I saw a flash
Never heard a shot
Was dead before I hit the floor
I guess I’m not
Goin’ back
To the rock
That I crawled out from under
No going back
To the bottle again
No going back
To the bottle again

MISDEMEANOR
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
While you’re committing a felony
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
If you’re really breaking the law
Rotten Ralph he did a couple years up in the castle
He lost his smile on Riker’s Island living push to shove.
Throg’s Neck tollbooth it struck him as a hassle
He blew it doing ninety with kilo in the glove
Inspector Sean be pimpin’ from the Eastie to the West Coast
Bank accounts and real estate reflectin’ sketchy gains
Scared his competition with a weapon at the nightclub
And now the IRS is on him like a hurricane
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
While you’re committing a felony
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
If you’re really breaking the law
I knew a man, Joe Bangles, and he’d move some weight for you
Flying lower altitude, Jamaica, Cuba too
Stole some fuel in Bay of Pigs, they caught him when he landed
The way he planned it wasn’t doin’ a nickel in the SHU
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
While you’re committing a felony
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby,
If you’re really breaking the law
You’d better not speed
With ten pounds of weed
Don’t even think about it
Don’t even think about it
Don’t drive drunk
While your moving some junk
Don’t be running red lights
With a body in the trunk
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
While you’re committing a felony
Don’t commit a misdemeanor baby
If you’re really breaking the law

COYOTE BLUES
I’m all alone on this mountaintop
Singin’ my Coyote Blues
I’m all alone on this mountaintop
Singin’ my Coyote Blues
Coyote Blues got me howlin;
Got me howlin’ at the moon
Coyote’s missin’
Coyote’s gone a long time
Coyote’s missin’
Coyote’s gone a long time
Coyote was my brother
He was a friend of mine
And I’ve been howlin’ at the moon
Howlin’ at the moon
You know I’ve been howlin’ at the moon
Howlin’at the moon
Coyote was my brother
Gone away too soon
Coyote’s singin’
Coyote’s singin’ his song
Coyote’s singin’
Coyote’s singin’ his song
Coyote Blues got me howlin
Got me singin’ along
And I’ve been howlin’ at the moon
Howlin’ at the moon
You know I’ve been howlin’ at the moon
Howlin’at the moon
Coyote was my brother
And he’s gone away too soon
I’m all alone on this mountaintop
Singin’ my Coyote Blues
I’m all alone on this mountaintop
Singin’ my Coyote Blues
Coyote Blues got me howlin’
Got me howlin’ at the moon
Coyote’s missin’
Coyote’s gone a long time
Coyote’s missin’
Coyote’s gone a long time
Coyote was my brother
A very good friend of mine
And I’ve been howlin’
Howlin’ at the moon
Yeah I’ve been howlin’
Howlin’ at the moon
Coyote was my brother
Got me howlin’ at the moon

COUNTRY JUNKIE
There ain’t nothing to do in this town
I drink till I’m drunk, and hang around
Call that number I wish I never knew
And wind up back in trouble with you
I'm back on probation again
Gotta stay away from our old friends
The boys in jail all know seem to each other
Did I tell you one even knew my brother
I’m a country boy and I’m proud of that
I got a big city monkey on my back
Virginia it’s time we face the truth
I’m a country junkie… and you are too
My brother was a stand-up guy
Sometimes I wish it was me who died
Sunday dinners at mommas won’t be the same
And you know I’m holding half of the blame
I’m a country boy and I’m proud of that
I got a big city monkey on my back
Virginia it’s time we face the truth
I’m a country junkie…and you are too
If tragedy is comedy
I got my work cut out for me
I hate to break it to you dear
But you’re in it with me up to here
I’m starin’ in the dragon’s eyes
My little brother never said goodbye
All his messages are right here in my phone
And I play ‘em when I’m feelin’ alone
I’m a country boy and I’m proud of that
Got a big city monkey on my back
Virginia it’s time we face the truth
I’m a country junkie…and you are too
I’m a country junkie…and you are too

I’M AFRAID
I miss those morning goodbyes
I miss those little white lies
“Be careful have a good day”
Isn’t that what you would say?
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
I want to step back in time
Back when you were mine
Before our love went wrong
Before I wrote this song
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
I miss those afternoon calls
I miss those bumps and falls
You’re a habit I can’t shake
Like the drugs I shouldn’t take
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
You’re always on my mind
You take up all my time
I don’t believe what you say
I still love you anyway
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid
Gonna learn to live without you
I’m afraid

BACKLESS CHAIR
Backless chair and the cold hard stare
Of the iron sights and five men standing there
Backless chair and the cold hard stare
Of the iron sights and five men standing there
Backless chair…it’s my time to go
There’ another man waiting down the row
The way I feel…skip my last meal
Don’t bother me why should I care
Backless chair…woah woah…backless chair
I said pardon me, they said no no no
There’s another man waiting down on the row
Picked up my cell, packed up my things
Five phones in a row, not one rings
Backless chair…woah… backless chair
Said my last prayer, I’m outta here
Whoa Backless chair
Well I had a little bad luck
Then no luck at all
The state relieved me of my rights
I made one bad mistake
And I’m payin’ for it with my life
Open fire, boys
I got no will to survive
I owe the state my last breath
Here come the governor
Time to collect
Five cold barrels Ten cold eyes
Five men working One retires
Backless chair
It’s my time to go
I said pardon me, they said no no no
There’s another man waiting down the row
Tell the guard I’m sorry
For the mess I left behind
Tell mama I’m sorry for dying while she’s still alive
Five cold barrels Ten cold eyes
Five men working, one man retires
Backless chair whoa backless chair
It’s my time to go
I said pardon me, they said no no no
There’s another man waiting down the row
Backless chair and the cold hard stare
Of the iron sights and five men standing there
Backless chair…it’s my time to go
There’ another man waiting down the row
